The Bacon Buddies® program is bringing a fun opportunity to the 2024 Plymouth County Fair!
Bacon Buddies®, a partnership between Special Olympics Iowa, the Iowa Pork Producers Association and the Plymouth County Pork Producers, will give Special Olympic athletes an opportunity to show a pig at this year's county fair.
Bacon Buddies® teams local youth mentors with Special Olympians. On Thursday, July 25, the mentors and buddies will spend time preparing the pig for the show and learning about animals. Then the main event happens Thursday night, when they enter the ring to show the pig and talk with the judge!
This partnership is a great way for young 4-H and FFA pork producers to get involved in their community and share their love for showing pigs with a broader audience, while giving the participating exhibitor a new opportunity.
