2009 Plymouth County Fair

Another Great Year!
A record number of visitors experienced the “Best 5 Days of the Summer” at the 2009 Plymouth County Fair this year! Attendance spiked to 92,500 for the festive five days. There were more than 500 4-H and FFA members displaying their exhibits in the numerous many competitions and shows. As always, the entertainment provided free to fairgoers rivaled and exceeded the variety and quality of entertainment provided by many state fairs. The twenty-five Plymouth County 4-H and Agricultural Society board members did what they do best… orchestrated another great fair for 2009.

Congratulations to Caine Westergard and Ben Schilmoeller, the Plymouth County Fair Queen and King. Caine Westergard went on to become the Iowa State Fair Queen, as well!
Their royalty court includes Princes Ryan Schroeder and Brian Kehm; Mr. Personality Chris Erickson; Miss Congeniality and Princess Stephany TenNapel and Princess Angie Breuer.
Caine, 17, is an eight-year member of the Johnson Jrs. 4-H Club and represented her club in the queen contest. She is also She is a member of the State 4-H Council, Northwest Area 4-H Council and the Plymouth County Council.
She also has a 4.0 grade point and is an honor roll student, a member of National Honor Society and has served as class officer.
Ben Schilmoeller, 16, has been a member of the Le Mars FFA chapter for two years and represented the chapter in the contest.
He is involved in FFA, the Le Mars Community High School (LCHS) Big Red Band and the Le Mars Community Schools (LCS) Student Leadership Team.
Ben has received many awards including the 2008 Star Chapter Greenhand; Greenhand test gold and silver; Greenhand Chapter Degrees, 2009 Forage Production Proficiency award in placement, and gold SAE Recordbook award. He is also on the school honor roll and is vice president of the Le Mars FFA Chapter.
